Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital
Two new patient pavilions clad in architecturally complex precast panels, matching the brick color, coursing, and joint treatment already built on this Lake Forest hospital campus.
Three PCI-certified producers in this chapter have clad the same hospital campus over several years: International Concrete Products on the original revitalization, Lombard Architectural Precast Products Company on these two new patient pavilions, and Stonecast Products now on the parking structure. Each had to match what the one before it built.
LAPPCO’s scope on the pavilions was 427 architecturally complex panels totaling 45,000 square feet, close to 30,000 of it brick faced in two finishes. A full-scale mock-up on site let the team prove the concrete color, brick coursing, and sealant colors against the existing buildings before committing to production.
